What this calculator does

Use this calculator when you know your current traffic or opportunity count and want to estimate what a better conversion rate would require.

Formula used

Current conversion rate equals current conversions divided by visitors or opportunities, multiplied by 100. Target conversions equal visitors or opportunities multiplied by target conversion rate. Extra conversions equal target conversions minus current conversions.

How to read the result

A target conversion rate is useful only if it is grounded in the same funnel definition. Compare the extra conversions needed with traffic quality, sales capacity, stock availability, checkout friction and average conversion value.

Assumptions

  • Assumes the same number of visitors or opportunities.
  • Rounds target conversions up to a whole conversion.
  • Assumes each extra conversion has the same average value.
  • Does not model changes in traffic source, seasonality, pricing or conversion attribution.

Sources and checks

This calculator uses a standard public formula. Where rules or thresholds can change, source links are listed on the relevant page.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate conversion rate uplift?

Calculate the target conversions from the target rate, subtract current conversions, then compare the extra conversions with the current conversion count.

Can this estimate the value of a conversion rate increase?

Yes. Enter an average conversion value and the calculator multiplies the extra conversions by that value.
