What this calculator does
This currency calculator intentionally uses a manual exchange rate instead of pretending to provide live market data. Enter the rate you have been quoted and add any card, bank or provider fee.
Formula used
Converted value equals amount multiplied by exchange rate. Fee cost equals converted value multiplied by the fee percentage, plus any fixed fee. Net received equals converted value minus total fees.
How to read the result
Use the result to compare travel cards, bank transfers and quoted exchange rates. A small percentage fee can matter on large transfers, so always compare the net amount received.
Assumptions
- Uses the exchange rate you enter.
- Does not fetch live rates.
- Treats percentage fees as a share of the converted value and fixed fees as already being in the destination currency.
Sources and checks
This calculator uses a standard public formula. Where rules or thresholds can change, source links are listed on the relevant page.
Frequently asked questions
Why not use live exchange rates?
A live converter needs a reliable market data provider and clear timestamping. The manual rate approach is safer for a first release and lets users check the quote they actually received.
